Dental Implant FAQs

What is a Dental Implant?

Dental Implants are a long-term solution to replace missing or extracted teeth, while also preserving tooth-supporting bone that can deteriorate when a tooth is lost. A Dental Implant is a titanium screw that is fused with the jawbone, where a single crown will be placed.

How are they different from Dentures?

Dental Implants are different from Dentures because they are screwed into the jawbone creating a more permanent solution for missing teeth. Dentures are a removable plate that takes the place of missing teeth in the mouth. With your doctors help, you can decide whether you are in need of full or partial dentures.

Are there benefits of Dental Implants?

Yes, the main benefit of dental implants is that they feel and look very natural. They are also permanent, so you don't have to worry about removing them when you are eating.

Who can place Dental Implants?

At Family and Cosmetic Dentistry, we do not place the screw but are happy to refer you to a implantologist or cosmetic dentist that does. We can assist with placing the crown on the implant.

How much do Dental Implants cost?

Since patient situations vary, the price and number of appointments vary as well. The price of dental implants can vary based on the patient's needs, how many appointments are needed and the amount your insurance will cover. For pricing information, please give us a call!

Do Dental Implants hurt?

With a Local Anesthetic, most patients feel better than they expect. After the procedure, most patients are able to return to work or normal daily activities the following day.

How long do Dental Implants last?

If you care for your dental implants properly, they can last a lifetime! When you come in to have your crown placed, we will go over the proper care of your dental implants which includes brushing, flossing, and visits for regular cleanings and check-ups.
