The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) defines pediatric dentistry as an age-defined specialty that provides primary and comprehensive preventative and therapeutic oral health care for infants and children. It is recommended that children come to the dentist for their first check-up when their first tooth appears and no later than their first birthday to prevent dental problems.
At Family and Cosmetic Dentistry, we understand that it is vital that your children feel comfortable at the dentist and understand the importance of oral hygiene. We take time at each appointment to educate parents and children on their oral health and talk about a daily dental hygiene routine, such as proper brushing and flossing. We adhere to the AAPD recommendation that children should visit the dentist every six months in order to prevent cavities and other dental problems.
